car. As you can see from the the pics it could do with a good clean, but the paintwork is actually quite good but does have a few flaky bits, crazing and bubble. This car was restored about five years ago, but as a result of using it every day has taken its toll on the paintwork. Last year I had the engine completely rebuilt, bottom end and top end, bored out to a 2 litre from a B18. Twin SU carbs fitted, P1800 aluminium inlet manifold, 4 branch exhaust, yellow type valve springs, P1800ES cylinder head. The car has probably done around 10,000 on the restored engine. Both the engine and gearbox are perfect and starts first time every time as it should. I have had new shocks put on it and there are new springs on the front. As you can imagine from the work done, this goes pretty well for a car of its age and would make a good hill climber if you are that way inclined. There are all the usual volvo leaks, such as the drivers footwell and in the boot, but it is solid and the damp is most probably attributed to the window seals, which could do with being replaced. There is some bubbling of painrwork around the arches and on the door shown in pics, the underneath is as solid as a rock. There is a bearing making a bit of a wer from the rear differential. Th temperature guage is also a bit intermittent. The inside is a bit on the tatty side as it is all original. There is a CD playear installed with 6x9 in the rear parcel shelf. The car currently has road tax until March but the MOT has now run out. The MOT inspector usually finds something to fail this car on and will probably be something like a bush or something, maybe a dodgy light or something. Be warned, this car does about 25mpg at best, thus I have now bought a citroen C1. Cash on collection and sensible offers considered More pics to come of the side of the car. is that simply my commute has been reduced from around 50 miles a day on the motorway to 1 mile up the road, so I simply don`t need a car to commute in anymore. The car is in excellent condition and it took me six months to find this S60 having gone to see several that didnt come close to this one. Details are as follows: Service History: Firstly, this car has full service history, the service intervals for which have been as follows: 900 miles; 2605 miles; 12128 miles; 24196 miles; 35995 miles; 49015 miles; 66314 miles; 82466 miles; 95259 miles; 108628 miles; 120979 miles; 134601 miles; 148087 miles; 160535 miles (three Volvo dealer stamps, and the last five services have been at the `Justvolvo` centre near Southampton which is a Volvo specialist with an excellent reputation. The last owner had always taken it to them for servicing and I have done the same, and they have commented on the fact thats its a very good example.) The Cambelt was changed at the 95000 mile service. Volvo specify a 96000 mile interval to have this changed so on this basis there would still be 30000 miles to go. On its last service last month the cambelt was inspected and I was informed that everything looked spot-on. In terms of recent maintenance I have done whatever the Justvolvo centre have told me needs doing, which is very little as it hasnt really caused any problems. The rear brake pads, discs and handbrake shoes were replaced last year. Two brand new Falken tyres also went on the front in December, and I haven`t really driven many miles since so these are as good as new. MOT/Tax: I have had this car MOT`d 31st January 2012 so the buyer has 12 months MOT (it previously ran until April); it passed first time only three minor advisories. Specifically these are damage to windscreen (stone chip that I`ve had professionally repaired), slight play in steering (I asked the garage and they advised that this was extremely minor so nothing to worry about; the new MOT regulations re: steering play are very strict hence why it was listed), and finally some very slight evidence of rubbing on the plastic wheel trim at the front. Tax runs until April 2012. Exterior/Interior: With respect to the bodywork and interior, in my opinion the car is in excellent condition. There are a couple of very minor dings on the passenger door from car parks I would imagine, which are hardly noticible. All of the photographs have been taken today so they are so minor that they don`t show up in the photos. I have kept the car parked off road so there are no scrapes etc. I have recently dyed the bumper strips back to their original colour rather than using temporary fixes, as it seems to be a common problem for these to fade. Spec-wise, this has all the usual SE stuff plus the winter pack. Therefore amongst other things this vehicle has front headlight wipers/washers, heated leather seats, cruise control and the top of the range stero system. let me down once when the ring gear had worn and it wouldnt start. That was replaced and also a new starter fitted since when it hasn`t missed a beat. In addition to that I have had the following done: Cambelt replaced together with tensioners and water pump. Both rear wheel bearings replaced. Seperate gearbox oil cooler fitted (a recommended precaution as the original is integral with the main radiator thus risking serious gearbox damage in the event of rad failure). Alternator replaced. New tyres all round. Regular servicing done, oil and filters, brake pads etc. All of this means that it is in excellent condition and good for many more miles, regularly returning 30+ mpg with lively performance and great handling. There are two remote keys both working and all aspects of the vehicle are in working order. Negative bits...whilst the bodywork is generally in excellent condition there are several minor blemishes but you have to work hard to find them. Also, since having the rear tyes fitted I`ve been aware of a humming noise at higher speeds but saw no point in replacing perfectly good tyres as the noise is not bad. The car also has a Nokia Bluetooth hands-free kit fitted. This works fine with my Motorola so will no-doubt be compatable with other makes of phone having the Bluetooth facility. This listing is for a Volvo 6 door Limousine that we have recently taken in part exchange from a client who has upgraded to a newer model. First registered in November 1996 the car has come straight out of service. The car has MOT until March 20th 2012. The new owner will need to pay for the Road Fund Licence. Known within the funeral trade as a 960, this model is perhaps more accurately described as an S90 Limousine as it is distinctly different from its more angular 960 predecessor (which were made up until 1995 - the S90 version being made from 1996 until 2001 with very little in the way of changes) . Built on a long wheelbase chassis (i.e. not cut and extended) by Nilsson in Sweden this car is an excellent example, and in very good condition both inside and out. The car drove in to us 200 miles or so and performs well on the road, we have some service history with the car, its clearly been well maintained and looked after. The bodywork is in very good condition other then a couple of very minor scuffs on a couple of the bumper corners the rest is excellent, as are the alloy wheels and tyres. work done) 1 previous owner | GENERAL INFORMATION / HISTORY | We are having to part with our much loved XC90, as we have decided to downgrade to an older XC90 simply to save some money on the sale of this vehicle (hard times). It is the second XC90 that we have owned and we are fans of Volvo (I also own a Volvo S60 T5, LPG conversion, which will also soon be up for sale). We are a large family with five children, and the XC90 fulfills all our needs. It has seven comfortable seats, the biggest boot of any 7 seater 4x4 (only the Land Rover Defender and the Audi Q7 come close - we researched the market!), is a competent 4x4 (which we need for towing our caravan), and is one of the safest (if not the safest) vehicle on the road (if you are not sure about this, subscribe to the Volvo magazine, and you will see the in depth safety testing they do on their vehicles), and it feels safe whilst driving. As it is the 185hp version, it has plenty of torque - fourth and fifth gear have lots of pull. It tows like a dream, and on our trip to Scotland, we did not notice our caravan behind us. Another big attraction of the XC90s is their luxury. It is very comfortable for traveling in, the cabin is quiet and you can converse with very little road noise. It is very smooth with excellent internal space. If needed, all seats fold down flat. The split tailgate is extremely useful. For a family, it is the place to change nappies, for children to sit on whilst putting on walking boots, and even for cooking food on a stove (so long as you are careful!). On fuel, it is good for a 4x4. We tend to get about 30 mpg for short journeys and about 38 mpg on long journeys. It is metallic gold in colour, and the bodywork is in excellent condition. | SERVICE HISTORY This XC90 was a fleet vehicle that we bought through Steve Crowter of Sure Car Consultants (who we have been dealing with for 15 years). It has a full service history, which has been serviced at Volvo Main Dealers - Arnold Clark, Aberdeen for the first four stamps, and was then serviced by Sure Car Consultants (PRP Autos Ltd, Coventry) before it was brought to us on just over 41,500 miles. The next service is due at 59,500 miles. INTERIOR / FEATURES The interior is luxurious beige leather with a brown dashboard, walnut centre console and chrome trims. Driver`s seat is electric with seat positions stored in memory corresponding with each driver`s key fob. There are 2 keys. The middle seat has an integrated child booster seat. The centre armrest is removable to give the middle passenger in the second row even more leg room if needed. The middle seat also slides forward for your child to be closer to you. Plenty of storage pockets, drinks holders, and `cubby holes` are provided around the vehicle, and are well placed and thought out. The CD player is a single disc player, as the older models had a `six stack` CD player, which would frequently get stuck. There is an MP3 connection which is neatly mounted in the centre console. CD controls with headphone jack sockets are provided on the door pillars for the rear passengers. If you have not experienced Volvo sound systems, be assured that the eight speaker system (also controlled from the steering wheel) is excellent, and provides both volume and bass when required! Mirrors are electrically adjustable and retractable. Parking sensors are useful for easy reversing. Rain sensing windscreen wipers add a bit of laziness! The features are endless. Please visit Volvo`s website for more information. MECHANICAL It has a new MOT (until Jan 2013), so is `good to go`. It is in excellent mechanical condition as previously mentioned. Volvo`s engines are bullet proof, to quote the owner of our local volvo specialist garage! We have not covered much mileage with our XC90, as we use our old Seat Alhambra as the `work horse` for day to day mileage. The XC90 is our weekend and holiday vehicle, and took us and our caravan safely to the Isle of Mull and the Lake District over the summer. Other than that, it stays at home. The jeep drives beautifully, and the engine is very smooth. The only mechanical work to have been done on the jeep is the rear brake discs and handbrake shoes were replaced. SAFETY The airbags and air curtains (down the entire length of the vehicle) give you peace of mind, with Volvo`s emphasis on safety, that this is an extremely safe vehicle for family travel. You feel and know you are safe in an XC90. The Volvo XC90 boasts plenty of kit to keep you out of trouble. The All Wheel Drive system reduces the chances of the driver losing control – as do driver aids dynamic stability and traction control, anti-lock brakes, electronic brake force distribution and emergency brake assist. There is technology to reduce the chances of rolling and Volvo has also increased the strength of the roof by using boron steel – which is up to five times stronger than regular steel. All this helped the Volvo XC90 receive a full five star EuroNCAP crash test rating. Let`s hope that none of us needs it. 2012 NEW BATTERY TODAY 12/12/2011 Its the S70 2.5 litre 5 cylinder 10 valve injection engine-extremely good smooth runner and extremely reliable. Rare low mileage.Possibly the best s70 you will find. No longer justified since our son started university-we can now get by with one car. Its really good,has just about every extra and just about everything works including extremely cold air conditioning that was restored fairly recently. We have never used CD player but find that this does not appear to want to grab a CD.Apart from this we cannot find anything that does not function as it should. The car also in very nice and rare Frost Green colour. We have owned for over 3 years-the car was cherished by previous owner who even went to the trouble of cleaning inside the engine compartment-A look in engine compartment deceives you into thinking its a much younger car.When we bought it three years ago the car had done 82000 miles. The previous owner was also in the process of setting this car up for caravan holidays. He had fitted new tow bar and all new suspension springs. However,he never got to use car due to changing circumstances. We did accurate test of fuel consumption recently-Sightseeing trip to peak district had a real mix of country town and motorway-It was a round trip of about 400 miles and we did exactly 33 miles to the gallon. We think that tank full will do about 450 or so miles.We did a pretty good motorway only steady measure and got 36 miles to the gallon. Road tax costs just £215 per year due to car being pre 2001. This is cheap road tax for an executive quality car. The service history complete until we got it three years ago-It has had domestic use only whilst we have owned it and we have mot`s for the period we have owned it.So there is a solid record of the low mileage. Has two brand new premium Firestone tyres and two excellent goodyear tyres-so all round all good quality tyres that will not need changing for a long time.Also has brand new battery, plugs ,leads ,distributor cap and rotor arm.Recent expensive oil change Also has brand new volvo headlights.New front brake hose .Oh, and brand new electric radio aeriel unit . last time the vehicle was filled with gas it cost 61p per litre, (the price varies from area to area, but is usually around half the price of petrol). The car starts on petrol and automatically switches over to the LPG system, as far as driving the vehicle you can tell no difference whether it`s on LPG or petrol, there is now difference performance wise, other than the obvious - saving you a fortune in fuel costs!! The large 70 litre tank is fitted into what was the spare wheel carrier, so it does not interfere with the boot space (see photo). Rear washer doesn`t spray (hose off I think)The exhaust back box rattles in an annoying manner at low revs (but isn`t broken).The front and rear tyres are different sizes (but all legal with good tread). One side marker light doesn`t work. The heater control panel doesn`t light up. One of the footwell lights is out. Tiny patch of rust appearing on front wing. Rust patch inside filler flap.The ABS warning light comes on when you pass 50mph for more than a few seconds, this doesn`t affect the way the car drives or stops and has passed 2 MOT tests that I know of with the fault. If you`re still here now for the good bits. 1 owner car until 2010 then I bought it as a stopgap but it was so reliable I forgot to replace it. In very good condition inside and out, a few minor marks outside, drivers seat is starting to sag a little but is still one of the most comfortable I`ve ever sat in. Has a few minor scrapes but better than many Ford/Vauxhall cars of this age. Being the SE it has an electric sunroof, front elec windows, heated electric mirrors, very nice heated seats, cruise control, traction control, a rear load cover (often lost or broken), and a mpg etc computer. It also has a radio casette with 6 speakers that works and sounds great(I`ll leave a few tapes and an ipod adapter casette in the car). Car has a towbar but I`ve only used it once with a box trailer for about 10 miles. It`s a tidy genuine car that has served me well for over 10,000 miles in all weathers and has never let me down. It`s comfortable for long trips (I managed 600 miles in a day in it and then got on a plane feeling fresh). It sits happily at 70 and returns close to 40mpg according to the computer, a bit less around town but still almost 30mpg if driven slowly (is there another way in it?)Comes with MOT until Jan 2013, to pass this year it had a brand new bottom arm/ball joint and some bulbs.Seems to have been well serviced with regards oil changes etc and has had 2 in my ownership, it also had new rear discs and pads and new front pads early this year. I have no idea about the last cambelt swap but as it hasn`t dies I`ve assumed its had one in the past. The only slight issues I had was the old exhaust rotting, I rectified this by fitting a full system including CAT (it is this back box that rattles a little and the age is why I know it isn`t in need of replacement). Also a hose blew off the bottom of the radiator (A common V40 fault) due to a corroded clip, luckily I was stationary at the time so nothing broke, as a precaution when this happened I had the cooling system, head gasket and compression checked and everything was healthy. In summary a very reliable car with nearly 11 months test, Tax until end of Feb, that would be a good honest load lugger, family runabout, tip car, work van substitute, or simply a great value comfortable commuter. If I had the space to keep it I probably would. As it is I need it gone as I`m storing it at work and don`t want to re-insure it next week.I can mail more pics and should be able to upload more soon. D5 is no exception to this rule, it brilliant. The car has covered 145k and that is the only negative thing i can say about it, its in exceptional condition taking the miles into consideration, in fact it could be sat on a forecourt with 50k on for £14000 and would not look out of place. It has had main dealer services at 17k, 40, 62, 77, independent at 97 including timing belt, main dealer again at 114 and the independent again at 132 in Feb 2011 so its now due and will be done upon sale.The car has had just 2 owners from new the first from new until 08 and the present registered keeper since then. I am in possession of the full V5 (less trader sup), full book pack and 2 working remote keys. As you would expect the car starts on the button, no smoke, runs and pulls very well, kickdown is brilliant and the 6 speed tiptronic mode is smooth and fully operational. Everything on the car works as it should and the spec list is massive and includes full leather, cruise, duel zone climate control, heated front seats, info centre (trip comp etc), remote locking, electric windows, traction control, abs, loads of volvo safety, alloys, demountable towbar, rear parking sensors, rain sensors, electric folding mirrors, electric memory seats, 7 seats (the rear 2 fold flat into the floor to make a full boot), it has loads of bits but if i list it all the ad will go on a bit and i do enough of that. I would describe the condition of the car as very clean and above average (even if it had only covered 50k), the car as you can see from the pictures is i think dent free, it does have a very light scratch here and there but nothing that will not polish out, the alloys are just starting to pit a little but nothing serious and all the glass and tyres are good, the interior again is lovely, the 2 front seats have some leather crazing as you would expect but otherwise no real signs of wear at all and its a very comfortable place to munch some miles. Oh i just thought of another negative, it needs a new front plate because the present one is ugly, i will do this also upon sale. The Volvo C70 was possibly the first Volvo since the P1800 of the sixties that didn`t look as if it was designed with rulers and setsquares. It`s elegant fusion of compound curves and taut sheet metal was an instant hit, and further enhanced the credibility Volvo was gaining through touring car racing. The brand had metamorphosed from something only driven by schoolteachers and harmless eccentrics into something genuinely desirable. The C70 was launched in the UK in June 1997 with a one-model range. The engine available was the powerful 2.3-litre T5 turbocharged five-cylinder 193bhp light-pressure turbocharged five-cylinder engine. This model was more correctly renamed the 2.4T in April 1999, as its capacity was 2435cc. In a straight line the T5 models can mix it with M3s and quick Mercs. In the 2.3 T5, rest to sixty takes just 6.9s on the way to an artificially limited top speed of some 155mph. So far so good. Volvo is quite capable of producing luxurious mile-munchers and has a stable of potent engines. Where the Swedes have no track record is in producing BMW-bashing standards of handling.Wisely then, they turned to Walkinshaw; Tom Walkinshaw, he of TWR, the outfit that runs the Arrows Formula One Team and developed the Jaguar XJ220. The company, too, that took the boxy Volvo 850 and turned it into a race-winning force in the British Touring Car Championship. The Kidlington-based operation specialises in chassis engineering and had a hand in the car`s development. However, without recourse to silk purse/sow`s ear comparisons, the C70 is always going to be a punchy front-wheel drive car, so to expect it to handle like a sporty BMW is perhaps aiming a bit high.No, it isn`t a BMW M3 - but then, given its Grand Touring aspirations, it could hardly afford to be. By far the best option is the 2.4T engine with an automatic box, as this best suits the car`s gentle nature. The T5 models try rather too hard to be sporting, and the sad truth is the basic chassis layout just isn`t good enough. If you want a rapid motorway and A-road car, the T5 is great, but it just won`t destroy corners with the aplomb of many coupe rivals or, indeed, many more prosaic saloons. Turn-in is crisp; but ride quality could be slightly better. The convertible models suffer from very little body distortion and are beautifully finished; again the 2.4T engine is the most satisfying bet. The 2.0-litre models try hard but are ultimately a little breathless in such a heavy car.
