at the back because this is a lovely low mileage example of a sought-after V40 variant, the rare automatic version; at the time of listing it’s the only 1.8 Sport auto on ebay - and it’s also the best value 1.8 Sport in terms on price/mileage! | These are good cars too - durable and reliable, good performance, and And if, like me, you have a young family, you’ll appreciate all the built-in secondary safety; four-star NCAP rating. | This one’s a good example too; besides very sensible miles (8,000 a year on average), it’s got a fully-stamped service history. It’s come direct from a large main dealer group to whom it has traded in by its last owner - a Hertfordshire Doctor - who’d had it for just under six years. It’s also Mot’d right round to April 13 2013 - I make that eleven months. I’ve test-driven it some 100 miles, and it’s performed extremely well - a lovely refined drive and, according to the onboard computer, I got 34mpg on mainly urban roads without really trying - on that basis 38-40 on a run should be possible. | This one’s well-equipped too - over and above having the higher-performance 122bhp engine. Additionally, for a sale at or very close to the asking price, I will include a service and timing belt change. The car also appears to have a fairly new battery, and I’ve also got both keys/remotes. | .Bodily, I’d rate this one as very good for the age; overall it’s a clean, tidy and presentable example. There’s a small crack in the rear bumper, plus a small (2-3cms) and shallow ‘see in the right light’ dent in the offside rear door - hasn’t cracked the paint. As usual, there are also a few marks on the front spoiler, plus the odd minor paint chip that you’d expect on a car of this age. There are also two small cutouts in the grille - looks to me like where the good Doctor had his green ‘get out of my way please’ lights. That, though, is about it, and overall for its age, I think it’s a tidy and presentable example. | Interior, too, seems very good - clean and tidy all round, including the loadspace. There is a small area of wear in the driver’s footwell where an overmat has worn against the carpet, but really that’s about it - and as I say, the car’s clearly never been smoked in, nor are there any signs of carrying pets. | The car seems excellent mechanically - runs and drives very well indeed with plenty of ‘oomph’ when you want it, and it’s also highly refined. | The only fault I need to disclose is that the front tyres, though okay now, are getting near to the legal limit and will need changing soon, were noted as getting near the legal limit so will need changing soon. | So to sum up… Well it’s the right model with good spec, very sensible miles, good history and overall in very nice all-round condition. | . Car currently has circa 97500 miles on clock so no oil chage required fo a while. Electrics: All fully working except drivers heated seat needs one of the pads changing and the passenger window does not auto retract when pressed so have to keep finger down. Condition: Does have age related marks one of near side rear arch (small dint but no paint broken) and a small bint on drivers doors (again no paint broken), plus some minor stop chips. Apart from that the body is fully galvanised so is superb in terms of body condition. Reason for sale: Simply need to change to diesel. NO px or swaps thanks.
